Image: The Naked Scientists

Long night, longer day
There was no trace of rain in the forecast
But the lingering weight of yesterday's clouds in our hearts shattered the weatherman's tarot
And it rained today
My! How it poured
Like Oya* was challenged to a bloody brawl in the heavenlies
And as she conquered, the vanquished wailed uncontrollably
Releasing their misery in torrents of sweat and tears

Today the cosmos heard about our heavy hearts and cried a storm with us
A storm for us

Long day, longer night
Tomorrow we'll make music of the rains
Stay loving Love
Your rainbow is promised

*the rain deity and goddess of violent rainstorms in Yoruba mythology.
